Find The Best Joint Mobilization Therapy Providers

By Rosella Campbell

Many people have fallen down stairs and either broken or severely sprained their ankles. Once it has healed many still complain that after a few minutes of exercise the pain is excruciating and that they are unable to walk down stairs. With joint mobilization therapy this can be overcome and normal activities can resume.

These techniques are used by osteopaths, occupational therapists, chiropractors and physical therapists. The synovial joints are better known as the diarthrosis and are one that is common and is the most movable in a mammal. This is distinguished from cartilaginous and fibrous joints by the structural and functional differences.

A gliding or plane type is the carpals of the wrist and has a sliding movement between the vertebrae. The hinge is the elbow and this is more like a door hinge that allows extension and flexion. The condyloid joints are where two bones fit together with an odd shape; one is concave the other convex. These joints allow for adduction, abduction extension and flexion movements.

A saddle type is typical of the thumb and allows the same movement at the condyloid but with greater mobility. The ball and socket joints better known as the universal one is found by the hip and shoulders, this allows for all movements except for the gliding. The knee joints or compound, have the saddle and condylar joints combined.

This form of therapy is to reduce pain in any joint which has resulted from injury or becoming old. A qualified practitioner is the only one that should do this kind of therapy as it can cause more harm than good if not done properly. When this has been done you might even be told to do some form of exercise so that it does not become worse over time.

The primary joints that are normally affected are the hips, ankles, thoracic spine and the shoulders. These can limit your ability to perform even the most mundane things and can lead to injuries. Many athletes are advised to do some warm up exercises so that their joints can respond easier when asked to move. The more one does warm-up with stretches and exercises that better the joints will work.

Osteopathy is a type of alternative medicine and claim that the wellbeing of a person is all about their muscles, bones, ligaments and connective tissue functioning well together. They require having special training in the musculoskeletal system. Their primarily treatment is of stretching, massaging and moving muscles and joints which help the body to heal itself quicker.

For some the fact that they have to live with pain daily can be very daunting. There is help even if it is just temporary. Joint mobilization therapies will help to reduce the pain and increase the functions so that one can be more mobile to do the things that they have always enjoyed. It might not be all that completely effective for everyone, but without trying this form of therapy what would the alternative be?
